Love in the Wild: Limited Edition Chapbook
Odysseus’s final task was to walk
into the bronze wheat, an oar nested
next to his shoulder mound as people came
from their houses like schools of curious
minnows. Walk until a farmer who never
knew the surprise of salt asked
if he was carrying a winnowing fan...
In Love in the Wild, Elizabeth Hoover reaches into the ancient past to understand present-day conflicts including the Iraq war, environmental destruction, and violence against women. Written with a strict attention to meter, the violence described strains against the regularity of the line. Designed by Los Angeles-based artist Dorothy Hoover, this run of 60 chapbooks was made in collaboration with Encyclopedia Destructica.

The Archive Sings of Winter: Recording of 12 Poems
Elizabeth Hoover reads selections from “The Archive Sings of Winter,” a book-length series of poems set in a fantastical archive populated by strange creatures, cryptic librarians, and living documents. In a fictional library that’s both magical and limitless, the narrator encounters new and mysterious objects, each an origin point from which a longer narrative unfolds. He discovers the archive contains jars of wind, clothing haunted by former wearers, and his own memories. The library transforms into a theater, factory, and aquarium, as objects come alive and speak.
